It will be better for Georgian Dream to name its own presidential candidate - Zakaria Kutsnashvili

“It will be better for Georgian Dream Party to name its own presidential candidate not to give the floor to opposition for demagogy,” Zakaria Kutsnashvili, Majority MP told First Channel when commenting about the statement made by Bidzina Ivanishvili, Chairman of Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia Party and former Prime Minister of Georgia in “Actual Topic with Maka Tsintsadze” Program of First Channel on July 24.

According to Kutsnashvili, support of Georgian Dream to an independent candidate will not be favourable for the party. “There are three reasons: Nobody will believe that an independent candidate will win without our support, the majority in our team will lose motivation and the opposition will begin speculating that Georgian Dream escaped from elections,” Kutsnashvili said.

Bidzina Ivanishvili, Chairman of Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia Party and former Prime Minister of Georgia said that several candidates are considered for post of President of Georgia in Georgian Dream including Bidzina Ivanishvili, Sozar Subari, Zurab Abashidze, Davit Sergeenko and Tea Tsulukiani.

However, he said he believed that Georgian Dream had to support a worthy independent candidate in presidential elections that would aim at strengthening democratic institutions in the country. (1tv.ge)
