Opposition urges Audit Office to probe into the case of audio records related to Omega Group

The opposition urges the Audit Office to immediately start the examination of the case of scandalous audio record of conversations, which contains information about the transfer of 2,5 tetries to the funds of the ruling party from per pack of sold cigarette in Georgia.

The representatives of the opposition parties suspect that the Georgian Dream party has been extorting this money as a bribe and this should be clarified by the financial monitoring service.

“There is no better evidence and proof that we are dealing with black money. Imagine that in 2016, Georgian Dream officially declared 22 million GEL spent for election campaign, while the rest of the income was received as a black money from cigarette and gas products. Naturally, the audit service is obliged to launch the examination of the case immediately,” – Nika Melia said.

The representatives of the opposition party European Georgia have also made statement about crime, saying the prosecution shall probe into the case.

“Bidzina Ivanishvili no longer wants to sponsor Georgian Dream Party; he now funds his own political interests from the budget of the Georgian citizens,” –Irakli Kiknavelidze of the party announced.
