Parade held to mark Police Day in Gori, Georgia

Law enforcers of Georgia mark the Police Day today. Representatives of all departments of the Interior Ministry marched across the central square of the town of Gori in Shida Kartli Region. The different units were wearing different uniforms at the parade. - "Rustavi2"
Special techniques including Cobra vehicles, HDR vehicles, armored vehicles, pick-ups, patrol vehicles were also presented at the parade in Gori. Law enforcers marched through the town without their weapons.
Commander-in-chief of Georgia president Saakashvili attended the parade. He said when delivering a speech that Georgia is one of the first among the countries, where teh police has big confidence of the people and with this indicator Georgia even passes ahead some developed countries.
After delivering the speech, Saakashvili honored Interior Minister Ivane Merabishvili with the St. George`s Order for the successful reforms carried out in the police. The award turned out to be a surprise for the minister.
The government`s full composition, MPs and representatives of the diplomatic corps as well as locals were watching the parade in Gori.
After the parade, Mikheil Saakashvili walked around the old districts of Gori and inspected the ongoing rehabilitation works there.
This is the third time the police parade has been held on the St. George`s Day in Georgia. At first it was held in Tbilisi, while last year the parade was held in Batumi.
