Saakashvili opens international conference Medea 2012 14.06.2012 14:21

President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili opened a two-day International Conference on Global Health, Medea 2012 in Batumi today. Several tens of Georgian doctors from various countries arrived in the seaside resort of Adjara Region to attend this conference. Georgia`s first lady, health minister and the representatives of insurance company and the health care ministry authorities were attending the conference. - "Rustavi2"

President Saakashvili spoke about the reforms in the health care sector, construction and equipment of new hospitals, qualification of the hospital personnel and availability of medical service.

Georgia`s First Lady, Sandra Roelofs and Health Care Minister Zurab Chiaberashvili also delivered speeches at the event. Minister introduced the directions of the health care reform and the most important projects intended in the health care sector to the participants of the conference.

The participants of the conference visited Batumi and Keda medical centers within the conference. Georgian doctors, visit Georgia in the frames of the conference, shared their experience to local staffs of the hospitals.

The first health conference was held in Washington in 2011. One of the initiators and the supporters of the project is Sandra Roelofs.
