The Prize Received by “Silkenet” for Founding the “Wounded Warrior Support Foundation” is Very Important for More Support and Popularization of This Initiative

The Georgian publishing of the World’s leading business edition Forbes Georgia named „Silknet” the winner of the year in CSR nomination.

Among the listed awards, Silknet became the winner of “Forbes Social Impact” for establishing the “Wounded Warrior Support Foundation

Forbes Social Impact - Silknet George Ramishvili: founder of Silk Road Group (Silknet being the subsidiary of the group) and Head of Supervisory Board of the WWSF, David Mamulaishvili: CEO of Silknet, General Director of WWSF.

Editor in chief and founder of Forbes Georgia, George Isakadze mentioned during the awarding ceremony, that “Silknet” and its founder, George Ramishvili, also, being founder of Silknet, was the most obvious candidate for winning in the category: Forbes Entrepreneur. The true grounds for that would be the fact of Silkned acquiring Geocell, thus making it an unprecedented business deal in the history of Georgia. Although the award - Forbes Social Impact granted to Silknet refers to a very important and useful initiative: this year the company has established the “Wounded Warrior Support Foundation”. The purpose of the foundation is to support the wounded warriors of Georgia having participated in different wars for the unity of our country.

These people represent the symbols of freedom and peace. It is an honorable duty of every single citizen to express our deepest gratitude and support towards these valuable people. At the expense of their lives, they were defending us as well as future generation. Now it is time to unite and give back – show our support and care – This is the main message to be acknowledged by the public. Therefore, Forbes Georgia nominated Silknet as a winner in a special SCR award category Forbes Social Impact for establishing the “Wounded Warrior Support Foundation”.

According to Giorgi Ramishvili, the founder of Silk Road Group, this award was very timely and well-regarded in terms of increasing the awareness of this useful initiative. “To me, this award is much more significant than that of Forbes Entrepreneur, although latter is also substantial and I congratulate the winner in advance. Forbes Social Impact is more important for our society” – said Giorgi Ramishvili as he thanked Forbes Georgia and his team members. In his closing sentence, Mr. Ramishvili outlined “every step and initiative we take contributes to long-term development of Georgia”.
