“No to the genocide of homeless animals, be the voice of the homeless” - a protest rally has been announced in Tbilisi and Batumi on April 4

On April 4, a protest rally has been announced in Tbilisi and Batumi to protect homeless animals. In particular, on April 4, at 15:00, animal rights activists will hold a rally in front of the government administration in Tbilisi, under the slogan: “No to the genocide of homeless animals, be the voice of the homeless”.

On the same day, at 15:00, a protest rally will be held in Europe Square in Batumi, under the slogan “No to the genocide of homeless animals”.

Animal rights activists note that the National Food Agency illegally takes sterilized and vaccinated animals and then does not return them to their original place.

Animal rights activists are also demanding the repeal of paragraph 3 of Decree No. 412 signed by the Prime Minister, as they say the amendment prohibits the return of dogs taken for sterilization and vaccination to public spaces. The National Food Agency has issued a statement on the issue. The agency denies the information that homeless dogs are being taken “to be put to sleep.” According to them, homeless animals, after completing the relevant procedures, will gradually return to a safe environment, except for those places “that were reflected in the program, taking into account the interests of all segments of society and safety risks (kindergartens, schools, etc.).”
