Orthodox Church Celebrates the Feast of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos
The Georgian Apostolic Autocephalous Orthodox Church celebrates the Feast of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos. On the occasion of the feast, the Patriarchal Throne, Metropolitan Shio (Mujiri) of Senaki and Chkhorotsku, will celebrate a liturgy in the Sioni Patriarchal Cathedral.
The liturgy will begin at 10:00 in the Sioni Patriarchal Cathedral.
Also, after the liturgy on the occasion of the feast of the Annunciation, a funeral service will be held in memory of the soul of the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II.
According to the Gospel, on this day the Archangel Gabriel appeared to the Virgin Mary that she would give birth to Jesus Christ. For the Orthodox Church, the Annunciation is a celebration of the beginning of the salvation of humanity and the revelation of the hidden mystery of God.
