Prosecutor's Office Charges Two Individuals with Joining a Foreign Terrorist Organization and Aiding in Terrorist Activities
The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia has charged two individuals, including one foreign citizen, with joining a foreign terrorist organization and aiding in terrorist activities. The information is being disseminated by the press service of the Prosecutor's Office.
According to them, the investigation conducted by the Counter-Terrorism Center of the State Security Service established that the defendants joined the terrorist organization "Islamic State", swore an oath of allegiance to its leader and were ready to carry out any task in order to aid terrorist activities.
"As a result of the investigative actions conducted, items with the symbols of a terrorist organization were seized, along with other evidence.
The investigation continues under Article 328 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (membership in a foreign terrorist organization and assistance in terrorist activities), which provides for up to 17 years of imprisonment as a form and measure of punishment.
The Prosecutor's Office will apply to the court within the time limit established by law with a motion to impose imprisonment on the defendants as a preventive measure," the information states.
