Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili is on a working visit to the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana, where he will participate in a regional ecological summit, the presidential administration announced.
According to them, Mikheil Kavelashvili is scheduled to deliver a speech at the summit's plenary session.
“An official welcoming ceremony for the President of Georgia was held at the Astana International Airport. Mikheil Kavelashvili was met by the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ermukhanbet Konuspayev and the Mayor of Astana Zhenis Kasymbek.
Within the framework of the forum, which is being held in partnership with the UN, leaders of various states will discuss the difficulties caused by climate change and the importance of coordinated efforts to address the challenges created. The forum will also pay special attention to connectivity, which is of crucial importance for landlocked countries.
The summit will be attended by the presidents of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Mongolia and Armenia and the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan. The speakers of the forum will include heads of various international organizations.
