European Council approves €90 billion loan for Ukraine and 20th package of sanctions against Russia
The European Council has approved a €90 billion loan for Ukraine and a 20th package of sanctions against Russia.
The Council of the European Union has approved, by written procedure, amendments to the EU's long-term budget for 2021-2027, which will allow for a €90 billion loan for Ukraine in 2026-2027. It has also adopted a 20th package of EU sanctions against Russia.
The amendments to the EU's long-term financial framework have removed the last legal obstacle preventing the €90 billion loan for Ukraine.
The EU's 20th package of sanctions does not include a complete ban on maritime services for Russian tankers.
