Mobilization works of Anaklia Deep-Sea Port are completed and the project is moving into the active construction phase - Tamar Ioseliani
The Georgian government has a very correct policy of developing basic infrastructure, which, of course, means the Anaklia Deep-Sea Port project, where mobilization works have been completed, - explains the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development.
As Tamar Ioseliani noted, the contractor, a representative of the Belgian "Big Four" in marine construction works, Jan De Nul, is already moving into active construction works.
“During this period, we were able to realize savings of approximately $52 million in this project. Approximately 1 km and 380 meters of breakwater will be built and, accordingly, the entrance channel will be deepened to approximately 18 meters so that large ships can enter the Anaklia seaport. This will be a really big priority for us in order to once again consolidate Georgia as a leading transit country in the Middle Corridor,” said Tamar Ioseliani. According to the Deputy Minister, the country has a consistent and systematic development plan in this direction, which includes both seaports and railway infrastructure, as well as the development of the road network and the construction of highways, as well as the aviation sector, including the Vaziani International Airport project.
