    European Political Union Summit Opens in Yerevan

    The official opening ceremony of the European Political Union Summit was held in the Armenian capital Yerevan.

    The event is being held at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex. The plenary session of the summit is planned to follow the opening ceremony.

    The motto of this year’s summit is “Building the Future: Unity and Stability in Europe.”

    More than 30 European leaders and the Prime Minister of Canada are attending the summit. The leaders of the European Union, Ursula von der Leyen, Antonio Costa, Kaia Kallas, the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Mezzola, the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, and leaders of other countries are in Yerevan.

    Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze is in Yerevan with a delegation that includes Georgian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili and Head of Government Administration Levan Zhorzholiani.

    Irakli Kobakhidze will address European leaders today at a roundtable discussion on strengthening connectivity and economic security.

    According to Irakli Kobakhidze, the summit will also be used for bilateral meetings, and his speech will focus on Georgia’s special role in Europe in terms of connectivity.

    The head of government attended the summit’s plenary session, which was opened by the host country’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa.
