Georgia Celebrates Family Sanctity Day

A procession will be held in Tbilisi and major cities today, May 17, in connection with the Day of Family Sanctity and Respect for Parents.

In Tbilisi, the clergy and the parishioners will gather at the St. George Cathedral in Kashveti at 10:00.

The participants of the procession gathered at Kashveti will head to the Holy Trinity Patriarchal Cathedral at 11:00 with a solemn prayer procession, where the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Archbishop of Mtskheta-Tbilisi and Metropolitan of Bichvinta and Tskhum-Abkhazia, His Holiness and Beatitude Shio III will celebrate the first festive liturgy. Delegations from various churches will attend the liturgy.

The general procession will be held in the following cities: Tbilisi - Kashveti Cathedral; Rustavi – City Hall; Kutaisi – Agmashenebeli Cathedral; Gori – Easter Cathedral; Batumi – Cathedral; Akhaltsikhe – Ascension Cathedral; Zugdidi – Dadiani Cathedral; Telavi – Cathedral of the Virgin Mary; Mtskheta – Theatre; Ozurgeti – Cathedral.
