Police in Samegrelo seize 31 packages of methadone prepared for sale, two Moldovan citizens detained

Officers of the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested two Moldovan citizens on charges of facilitating the illegal purchase, storage and sale of a particularly large amount of narcotic drugs.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, during a search of the defendants’ personal, temporary residence and car, law enforcement officers also seized 31 packages of the narcotic drug methadone containing granules and loose mass prepared for sale in a particularly large amount from various locations.

According to the department, as a result of the investigative actions carried out, the police also seized materials necessary for packaging the narcotic drug.

The investigation is underway under Articles 260 and 260-4 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
