Epiphanes, Bishop of Cyprus (403); Germanus, Patriarch of Constantinople (740); Sabine, Archbishop of Cyprus (V) and Polubi, Bishop of Rhinocyra (V); Hieromartyr Hermogenes, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia (1913).

The High Priest Epiphanes, Bishop of Cyprus, lived in Phoenicia in the 4th century. He was of Jewish origin and received a good education in his youth. He was converted to the Christian faith after seeing a small act of charity by a monk named Lucian - Lucian gave his clothes to a poor man. Amazed by the nun’s kindness, Epiphanius asked her to teach him the doctrine of Christ. After that, he received the Holy Light from her hands and went to the monastery that had been founded by his teacher Lucian. He secretly went to the Pathian desert to the great ascetic Hilarion, under whose guidance he had been a hermit in his youth. The saints spent two months in joint prayer and supplication, after which Saint Hilarion sent Saint Epiphanius to Salamis. There the bishops gathered to elect a new chief shepherd to replace the deceased. The Lord revealed to the elder bishop, Papios, that the monk Epiphanius, who had recently arrived in this city, should be elected bishop. When he was found, Saint Papius brought the saint into the church, and here Epiphanius was forced to submit to the will of the council of bishops. Thus it came about that Saint Epiphanius was elevated to the episcopal see of Salamis, about the year 367.

The high priest Sabianus, bishop of Cyprus, was born in the Phoenician city of Lycia. When he heard about the famous figure, Saint Epiphanius of Cypres, Sabianus went to him and was tonsured a monk by his hands. For five years he lived as a hermit with Saint Epiphanius in the desert. Saint High Priest Sabianus died in old age, in the middle of the 5th century.
