Tbilisi Development Fund launches rehabilitation project at Sioni Cathedral, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze announced at today’s session of the municipal government.

According to him, the cathedral and its bell tower are monuments with cultural heritage status.

“The existence of monuments with cultural heritage status is a great asset for our city. We have implemented many important projects in this direction. Tbilisi Development Fund is now launching a rehabilitation project at Sioni Cathedral,” Kakha Kaladze announced.

According to the mayor of the capital, the works will be completed by the end of October.

"The current condition of the church's roof and bell tower is damaged, which is why the incoming precipitation is damaging the walls and posing a threat to the frescoes in the church. Accordingly, the mentioned part of the church will be rehabilitated. The tender procedures have been completed, the winning company has been identified, with which the contract has already been signed," Kakha Kaladze noted.
