Person arrested for placing counterfeit banknotes in cash machines

Officers of the Rustavi City Police Department have arrested one person on charges of fraud.

According to the investigation, the accused placed counterfeit banknotes instead of cash in cash machines in Rustavi at various times in order to receive a large amount of material benefit, as a result of which the company suffered property damage of more than 7,000 GEL.

Law enforcement officers seized counterfeit banknotes as evidence as a result of investigative actions, including a personal search of the accused.

The investigation is underway under Article 180 of the Criminal Code, which provides for imprisonment for a term of up to 7 years.
