Police reveal organized drug trafficking group, six foreign nationals detained
Officers of the Central Criminal Police Department have arrested six foreign nationals on charges of illegal purchase and storage of a particularly large amount of narcotics by an organized group, facilitation of their sale, and illegal cultivation of a plant containing narcotics.
As a result of intensive investigative actions conducted by law enforcement officers, it has been established that members of the drug trafficking group had set up a special greenhouse in rented apartments in various districts of Tbilisi, where they illegally grew and cultivated a particularly large amount of narcotics, “cannabis,” for the purpose of further sale.
As a result of the police search of the defendants' personal and temporary residences, a particularly large amount of various types of narcotics were seized as evidence, including: "cocaine", "tetrahydrocannabinol", the plant "cannabis" and dried "marijuana".
As a result of the investigative actions, materials necessary for the packaging and cultivation of narcotics were also seized.
The investigation is being conducted under Articles 260, 260-Quarter and 265-Prima of the Criminal Code, which provides for up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
