Another Person Arrested on Espionage Charges, Journalist Irakli Chikhladze

Journalist and founder of "News Caucasus", Irakli Chikhladze, is another person arrested by the State Security Service today on espionage charges. Earlier, Gulbaat Rtskhiladze, founder of the "Eurasia Institute", was handcuffed.

Journalist Irakli Chikhladze is the brother of journalist Giga Chikhladze, who was killed by Russian occupation forces in Tskhinvali during the August war.

According to the State Security Service, Irakli Chikhladze is accused of collecting and transmitting information on behalf of foreign intelligence services.

According to the investigation conducted by the agency, the detainee, through personal contacts in journalistic, expert and other professional circles, systematically obtained and transmitted intelligence information to foreign special services in accordance with their interests.

The State Security Service says that the detainee also managed an intelligence network consisting of various individuals under the cover of an online platform.
