Gulbaat Rtskhiladze, arrested on charges of espionage, was sentenced to imprisonment as a preventive measure.

The decision was made by Tbilisi City Court Judge Lela Maridashvili.

The prosecutor's office requested the use of the most severe preventive measure of imprisonment against Rtskhiladze, while the defense requested that he be released without a preventive measure. In addition, the court also offered a bail of 30,000 GEL as an alternative.

For information, Gulbaat Rtskhiladze was arrested by the State Security Service on charges of espionage on May 30.

He was charged under Part 1 of Article 314 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which refers to espionage. The aforementioned act is punishable by up to 12 years of imprisonment.
