Police seize 47 more “miners” in Mestia
As a result of searches conducted in the Mestia municipality, officers of the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs seized an additional 47 so-called miners as evidence.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, using the aforementioned devices, locals were systematically generating digital currency and receiving illegal income through the illegal and unlawful consumption of large amounts of electricity.
“Law enforcement officers are continuing intensive investigative actions to identify other persons involved in the crime and take appropriate legal measures against them.
The investigation is being conducted under Subparagraph “b” of Part 2 of Article 229 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for imprisonment for a term of up to 3 years,” the information says.
