Culture is the direction that can restore the atmosphere of trust that existed between Russia and Georgia - Russian President's Special Representative

Russian President's Special Representative for International Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvidkoy said that the sphere of culture can gradually restore the atmosphere of trust between Russia and Georgia.

According to him, culture is the direction that can "step by step, without any forceful steps" restore the atmosphere of trust that existed between the two countries.

"People always strive for each other, because our countries are connected by very deep ties," Shvidkoy told the Russian state agency TASS.

Shvidkoy, who is also the artistic director of the Moscow Musical Theater, attended the screening of the film performances "Circus Princess" and "Reverse" held in Tbilisi on June 14-15.

According to him, such cultural events are “particularly attractive” for deepening contacts with the Georgian public. As he noted, the Russian side is interested in introducing Georgia to modern Russian art, painting, cinematography and performers.

“We will do only what will be comfortable for our Georgian partners, although I believe that such cultural initiatives have their own importance,” he said.

Shvidkoi also noted that Russia is open to Georgian artists. According to him, many Georgian performers work in Russia, and Georgian groups regularly tour the country.
