Georgia has always been ready for dialogue with the European Union, and we are not talking about concessions, but about discussion - Irakli Cheishvili

According to the statement of the Georgian Dream MP, Irakli Cheishvili, the position of the Georgian government regarding relations with the European Union has not changed and the country is constantly ready for dialogue.

According to him, the government has not closed its door to the European Union and has repeatedly confirmed its desire for friendship and cooperation.

“Nothing changes our position. We have always been ready for dialogue. We have stated many times, the Prime Minister has stated many times, that we remain unilaterally in the friendship regime. The door has not been closed to us for the European Union, the opposite has happened. Therefore, Nikoloz Samkharadze has said nothing else. He asked for mediation to launch and resume the dialogue process. We are ready to talk not only about the Transparency Law, but also about any issue. We have our evidence and arguments on how important the adoption of this law was and what kind of relationship we should have with the European Union in the light of this law,” Cheishvili said.

According to him, the government is ready for a discussion on any adopted law and there is no talk of concessions at this stage.

“We are not talking about concessions, we are talking about a discussion, a dialogue around any law – be it the Transparency Law or any other. Where did you read that there is talk of concessions? At least, at this stage,” he noted.
