Sanctions against Russia extended for 12 months
The European Union has extended sanctions against Russia for 12 months.
As Ukrainian media reports, for the first time since the start of the war, EU leaders have agreed to a proposal to extend sanctions for 12 months instead of six months.
The leaders made the decision at a meeting of the European Council.
“The discussion on Ukraine has ended. EU leaders discussed the conclusions of the summit on Ukraine and decided to extend sanctions against Russia for 12 months,” Maria Tomasik, the press secretary of the President of the European Council, told journalists.
For your information, during Viktor Orban’s tenure as Prime Minister, Hungary regularly blocked EU sanctions and other decisions. Slovakia often joined the veto.
