54 illegal aliens detained - Migration Department
Employees of the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs conducted special immigration control measures across the country.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of the complex measures, 54 illegal aliens were detained, including citizens of Nigeria, India, Nepal, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Jordan, Egypt, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Turkmenistan, China, Pakistan and Lebanon.
“Within the framework of special immigration control measures, employees of the department checked specific locations and facilities of various purposes, which aimed to identify foreign citizens staying in Georgia without legal grounds.
It was determined that the detained persons were in the country in violation of the requirements established by the Law of Georgia “On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons”.
"Currently, the detainees are being held at the Migration Department's temporary accommodation center. Relevant procedures are underway to expel them from the country," the information states.
