    The court found seven defendants guilty in connection with the events that took place near the Atoneli Palace on October 4 and sentenced them to three to five years in prison

    The court found the defendants – Giorgi Chakhunashvili, Ia Darakhvelidze, Davit Zhgenti, Konstantine Kokaia, Kakhaber Mzhavanadze, Zakro Albutashvili and Davit Sturua – guilty in connection with the events that took place near the Atoneli Palace on October 4.

    The decision was made by Judge Giorgi Gelashvili. According to his verdict, all seven defendants were found guilty of the charges and sentenced to three to five years in prison.

    Doctor Giorgi Chakhunashvili, who had previously been released on bail, was detained in the courtroom.

    As for Ia Darakhvelidze, who was released on bail, he did not attend the announcement of the verdict. He was sentenced to three years in prison. He will be wanted, and the verdict issued by the judge will be enforced after his whereabouts are determined and he is arrested.

    For your information, all persons detained in connection with the events that took place on October 4 have been charged under Article 19-222, Part 2, Subparagraph “a” of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which refers to an attempt to seize and block objects of strategic and special importance, committed as a group. They have also been charged under Article 225, Part 2, of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which refers to participation in group violence.

    In total, plea agreements have already been signed with 22 out of 64 persons.
