The government is maintaining a criminal silence on the process of annexation of the Tskhinvali region by Russia - Giga Parulava
According to the statement of the MP of the party "Gakharia for Georgia", Giga Parulava, the Russian Federation is continuing the process of de-facto annexation of the occupied Tskhinvali region at an accelerated pace, the goal of which, in his assessment, is the accession of the historical land of Georgia - Samachablo - to the Russian Federation.
According to Parulava, the so-called "Integration Agreement" signed on May 9, 2026, as well as the appointment of Russian official Marat Kambalov as an advisor to the Russian President Alan Gagloev and head of the occupation administration, are part of this process.
According to his assessment, in the face of these processes directed against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia, the government and Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze are maintaining a “criminal silence.”
“In fact, they refuse to condemn the annexation processes directed against the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia and to mobilize the international community to stop the annexation process using international legal mechanisms,” said Parulava.
The MP also criticized the statements of the Georgian Dream, according to which, according to him, the government accused international partners of violating Georgia’s sovereignty.
"Those who have been the main guarantors of Georgia's territorial integrity, sovereignty, and policy of non-recognition of occupied territories for decades have discussed in one political dimension the Russian Federation, which has occupied Georgian territories through military aggression, has been violating international law for years, and continues to take actions against our country. Such statements irreparably harm Georgia's national interests and the foundations of long-standing partnership," Giga Parulava said.
