    Church Calendar

Martyr Agrippina (253-260); Martyrs: Vestok, Gaius, Provos, Loli, Urban and others (IV); Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God (1480).

The Holy Martyr Agrippina, a Roman girl, refused to marry and dedicated her life to the Lord. During the persecution of Christians initiated by Emperor Valerian, she appeared before the court, where she confessed the law of Christ, for which she was tortured. During the torments, the holy confessor died. The Christian women Vasa, Paula and Agrafonica quietly transferred her body to Sicily, where she performed many miracles. Around the 11th century, the relics of the Holy Martyr Agrippina were transferred to Constantinople.

The Holy Martyrs Eutychus, Gaius, Probus, Loli, and Urbanus perished during the persecution of Christians during the reign of Emperor Maximian.

Saint Eutychus was a pagan priest, but upon seeing the heroism of the Christians and the miracles they performed, he believed in Christ. He went to the Bishop of Antioch, Eudicus, who baptized him and ordained him a presbyter. In the city of Lystra, Saint Eutychus converted his nephews Gaius, Probus, Loli, and Urbanus to Christianity. Saint Eutychus was captured by the emperor’s horsemen and taken to the judge, but the torture inflicted on him at the trial could not break the saint. Then he was sent to Agrippina, the governor of the city of Ancyra in Galatia. With him were Gaios and his family, who were brutally tortured, but the holy martyrs did not renounce the law of Christ and were beheaded.
