Officers of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested four people on charges of facilitating the illegal purchase, storage and sale of a particularly large amount of narcotics by an organized group. The Ministry of Internal Affairs reports.

According to the department, both Georgian and foreign citizens are among the detainees.

“As a result of a search of the personal and residential homes of the accused, as well as during the investigative experiment, based on urgent necessity, and based on information retrieved from their mobile phones, law enforcement officers seized an exceptionally large amount of narcotics prepared for sale from various locations as evidence – weighing up to one and a half kilograms, as well as 66 packs of “marijuana”.

The investigation revealed that the defendants were packaging the drugs in small packages, storing them in hiding places at various addresses in Tbilisi, and then receiving them through one of the Internet platforms.

As a result of the investigative actions, law enforcement officers also seized materials necessary for packaging the drugs.

The investigation is being conducted under Articles 260 and 260-4 of the Criminal Code, which provides for up to 20 years or life imprisonment,” the MIA said in a statement.
