Venerable David of Thessalonica (c. 540); Venerable John, Bishop of Guthely (c. 770-790); Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God (1383).

The Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God, according to tradition, is one of the icons created by the Holy Apostle Luke the Evangelist. In the 5th century, it was transferred from Jerusalem to Constantinople, where a church was built for it in Vlach. In 1383, 70 years before the conquest of Constantinople by the Turks, the icon disappeared from the monastery and shone over Lake Ladoga. It miraculously traveled from place to place until it stopped near the city of Tikhvin, where a wooden church was built.

Venerable Father David of Thessaloniki served in the monastery of the Holy Martyrs Theodore and Mercury. Later, he built a hut under an almond tree near the city of Salona and spent 70 years there in prayer and strict fasting, enduring cold and terrible heat. Venerable Father David received the gift of miracles from the cave and healed many sick people. To everyone who came to him, the holy messenger gave useful advice for the soul. He attained such a state of passion that he resembled an incarnate angel and could hold a burning coal in his hand to perform the rite. Venerable Father David died around 540.
