Commemoration of the Holy, Glorious, All-Blessed Heads of the Apostles - Peter and Paul.

Our Lord Jesus Christ, in the last days of His earthly life, chose only twelve of His disciples to preach the Word of God.

Among them, the Apostle Peter, for his dedication, took the lead and was given the privilege of preaching the Word of the Lord. The Apostles Peter and John went together to the temple to pray and preach the Word of the Lord. They healed many sick people, and seeing this, many Gentiles believed in Christ. He offered his soul as a sacrifice for the flock of Christ and ended his apostleship with a martyr's death.

Saint Paul, together with the apostle Barnabas, went from city to city, preaching the word of the Lord. He converted many Gentiles to the true faith. The population was divided into believers and rejecters of Christ. The rejecters wanted to stone Paul and Barnabas. They learned of this and fled to Lystra. In this city lived a man who had been lame from birth, and his legs were cut off, who listened attentively to Paul's speech. The saint healed the sick man, and he began to walk. At that time, Jews from Antioch and Iconium arrived, who incited the people and stoned Paul, thinking he was dead, and dragged him out of the city. When the disciples gathered around him, he got up and entered the city. The people believed in the miracle even more.
