We don’t want the support of the Georgian government, we want to support the Georgian people – Kaia Kalas
We don’t want the support of the Georgian government, we want to support the Georgian people, – said the EU High Representative, Kaia Kalas, in Brussels, in response to a question about Georgia before the start of the meetings of the foreign ministers of the EU member states.
According to Kalas, there were discussions about how this can best be done so that people do not lose hope in Europe.
“The Black Sea strategy, which we have been developing since last year, is now in the implementation phase. The various countries around the Black Sea are, of course, an important part of this. Now we also have some difficulties with Georgia, because we do not really have a connection with the government and we do not want the support of the government, we want to support the Georgian people. We also had discussions about how we can best do this so that people do not lose hope in Europe,” – said Kaia Kalas.
As a reminder, at the Council meeting in Brussels today, in parallel with the issue of Ukraine and the Middle East, diplomats will discuss the "European Union's strategic approach towards the Black Sea region".
