According to CENTCOM, in a five-hour operation, US forces struck military targets in several regions of Iran with high-precision munitions, including Bushehr, Chahbahar, Jask, Konarak, Abu Musa and Bandar Abbas.
The command said the operation was aimed at further restricting Iran's ability to launch attacks on international commercial vessels. The targets of the strikes included coastal defense systems, missile and drone positions, as well as Iranian naval capabilities.
According to CENTCOM, more than 50,000 American military personnel are currently deployed in the Middle East.
“American forces remain at constant readiness, possess high combat capabilities, and are ready to respond to any threat,” the US Central Command said in a statement.
