Disaster relief work continues in Telavi – Platon Kalmakhelidze

According to Platon Kalmakhelidze, State Representative of the Kakheti Region, the main sediment mass has already been removed from the epicenter of the disaster in Telavi and cleanup work is ongoing at this stage.

According to him, bank protection gabions are being installed at the Telviskhevi headwaters, as well as in the direction of the villages of Gulguli and Vardisubani, so that agricultural fields along the approximately 2-kilometer critical section will no longer be threatened in the future.

According to the State Representative, the workforce continues to clean the basements of flooded commercial facilities and apartment buildings.

According to Kalmakhelidze, water supply is currently limited in three villages of the Telavi municipality – Tsinandali, Kisiskhevi and Vardisubani. He said that work is underway on the main structures to eliminate the damage caused by the disaster and fully restore water supply in the mentioned villages.

According to the State Representative, representatives of the Levan Samkharauli National Bureau of Forensic Expertise have already been on Vardoshvili Street in Telavi, where they conducted an initial examination. According to him, after analyzing the current situation and preparing an expert report, relevant information will be provided to the owners of commercial facilities and the public.
