Revaz Elizbarashvili, who was arrested in connection with a traffic accident in Gori that killed a mother and her child, was sentenced to imprisonment as a preventive measure.

The detainee was charged under Article 276, Part 9 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (violation of the safety rules for driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, which resulted in the death of two people), which provides for up to 12 years of imprisonment as a form and measure of punishment.

The traffic accident occurred on Chavchavadze Street in the center of Gori on July 13. A “Jeep” type vehicle hit a young woman and her 3-year-old daughter who were walking on foot.

Both the mother and child injured in the car accident died in the hospital.
