Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada has approved Serhiy Koretsky as the country's new Prime Minister.

Koretsky's candidacy was supported by 289 deputies, one was against, and seven abstained.

Speaking in the Rada, Koretsky said that he wants Ukraine's new government to become a "government of defense, economic development, and European integration." According to him, he realizes that, compared to previous winters, the coming winter in Ukraine may be more difficult.

For information, at the end of last week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that in the near future Ukraine would begin "personnel changes that will ensure the implementation of a renewed political strategy." He said that this requires a government renewal.

On July 14, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported the resignation of Yulia Svirydenko as Prime Minister. On July 16, Volodymyr Zelensky nominated Serhiy Koretsky for the post of Prime Minister.
