One person arrested on charges of fraudulently embezzling up to 171,000 GEL

Employees of the Batumi City Division of the Adjara Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested a person with a previous conviction on charges of fraudulently embezzling a large amount of money.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the investigation revealed that the accused fraudulently convinced a citizen that he would help him purchase an apartment in Batumi and carry out renovation works, in return for which he gradually illegally appropriated up to 171,000 GEL of his belongings.

As a result of the operational measures taken by law enforcement officers, the guilty person was arrested as a defendant based on a judge's ruling.

The investigation is underway under Article 180 of the Criminal Code, which provides for up to ten years of imprisonment.
