Communications Commission issues written warning to Imedi TV for violating the law
The Communications Commission has issued a written warning to Imedi TV for violating the Law of Georgia on Broadcasting. The case concerns information disseminated by the TV company on air, on the Internet, on its website and on social networks, about which the A(A)IPE “Georgian Future Academy” filed a complaint with the Commission.
The Commission determined that the information disseminated on air and on the Internet by Imedi TV violated the requirements of the Law of Georgia on Broadcasting. These include the obligation to indicate the anonymity of the source of information, the obligation to cover different opinions in a balanced manner, the obligation to treat participants in the program with due fairness and respect, and the obligation to provide the right to respond to accusations made in the program.
Based on the fact that no form of administrative liability has been applied to "TeleImedi" for committing a similar violation over the past year, the Communications Commission has issued a written warning to the broadcaster. The Communications Commission is disseminating the information.
