Georgia-US relations are developing positively and we are moving step by step towards strategic partnership - Levan Makhashvili
According to the statement of the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on European Integration, Levan Makhashvili, bilateral relations between Georgia and the United States of America are developing with positive dynamics, which has already been followed by concrete steps at the level of meetings, visits and various decisions.
As Makhashvili told journalists, despite the criticism of the opposition, the public sees that relations between the two countries are developing.
“After this letter, they [the opposition] may lose sleep and lose hope - the fact is one: bilateral relations are developing and the public sees this, regardless of how much some oppositionists try to belittle and belittle this or that decision or step,” Makhashvili said.
According to him, the Georgian government has repeatedly confirmed its readiness to base the strategic partnership on a specific roadmap.
“We and the Prime Minister’s team have repeatedly expressed our readiness to further deepen these relations and base the strategic partnership on a specific roadmap. We are moving in this direction step by step, protecting Georgia’s interests and, most importantly, on the basis of mutual equality,” Makhashvili noted.
According to his assessment, both sides have expressed a positive attitude towards the reset of Georgia-US relations, although the final result will depend on the ongoing work process.
“The main thing here is that we can say that we have left the very bad and negative legacy that the Biden administration left behind, and today we have the opportunity to build these relations step by step, consistently, which, hopefully, will lead us to a strategic partnership. This is not a 100% guaranteed process, this is a working process. We are looking for points of intersection and common interest in this process. Hopefully, such common interests will be identified and we will build a strategic partnership precisely on these interests,” Makhashvili said.

In the letter, Trump notes that by working together to support the sovereignty, security, and long-term prosperity of Georgia and the US, they can achieve significant progress.
