    Border Police Officers Detain Nine Foreign Citizens for Attempting to Illegally Cross the State Border of Georgia in a Group

    Officers of the Operational-Investigative Department of the Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia have detained nine foreign citizens for attempting to illegally cross the State border of Georgia in a group.

    According to the Georgian Border Police, as a result of operational measures and investigative actions conducted by law enforcement officers, it was established that the detainees were illegally attempting to cross the border checkpoint through the protected section of the border sector "Sarpi" into the Republic of Turkey.

    The investigation is underway under Subsection "a" of Part Two of Article 19-344 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for imprisonment for a term of up to five years.
