    The Republic of Nauru has severed diplomatic relations with the occupied so-called South Ossetia and Abkhazia

    The Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes the decision taken on July 21, 2026 by the executive body of the Republic of Nauru, the Cabinet of Nauru, to sever diplomatic relations “between the Republic of Nauru and the Republic of South Ossetia, also known as the State of Alania” and “between the Republic of Nauru and the Republic of Abkhazia”, – the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs states in a statement.

    As stated in the statement, the decision once again confirms that respect for and observance of the norms of international law are the basis of healthy international relations.

    “Georgia expresses its readiness to establish diplomatic relations with the Republic of Nauru and promote the intensification of bilateral cooperation based on common interests,” – the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs states in a statement.
