According to the National Statistical Service, in July 2026, compared to the previous month, the inflation rate in Georgia was -0.4 percent, and the annual inflation rate was 5.5 percent.
As for core inflation, according to Geostat, the aforementioned indicator amounted to 3.8 percent in July 2026 compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, while the annual core inflation rate excluding tobacco was determined at 3.5 percent.
"The formation of the monthly inflation rate was mainly influenced by changes in prices in the following groups: Food and non-alcoholic beverages: prices in the group decreased by 0.9 percent, which was reflected in the monthly inflation by -0.3 percentage points. Prices decreased in the following subgroups: vegetables and fruit (-12.3 percent), fruits and grapes (-2.8 percent), sugar, jam and other sweets (-0.8 percent), mineral and spring water, non-alcoholic beverages and natural juices (-0.5 percent), meat and meat products (-0.3 percent), fish (-0.1 percent). In addition, prices increased in the following subgroups: coffee, tea and cocoa (2.3 percent), milk, cheese and eggs (2.1 percent), oil and fat (1.2 percent), bread and bakery products (0.7 percent);
Clothing and footwear: prices in the group decreased by 4.9 percent, which was reflected in the monthly inflation by -0.22 percentage points. Prices decreased in both the clothing (-6.4 percent) and footwear (-2.4 percent) subgroups; housing, water, electricity, gas: prices in the group increased by 0.8 percent. Accordingly, the group's contribution to the monthly inflation amounted to 0.08 percentage points. Prices mainly increased in the actual housing tax (2.3 percent) and the current maintenance and repair of housing (1.3 percent),” the report published by Geostat states.
