According to the agency, the investigation revealed that the detainee took a bribe from a Georgian citizen in exchange for avoiding a fine established by law for an illegally constructed commercial space in Batumi, at which time he was arrested as a suspect in the crime.

The direct duty of the detainee at the Batumi Municipal Inspectorate was to control all classes of construction sites in the territory of Batumi, as well as to respond to unauthorized and already illegally carried out works as defined by law. The investigation is underway under Part 1 of Article 338 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for imprisonment for a term of 6 to 9 years.
