No violation of nitrate content in watermelon and melon samples

The National Food Agency is testing horticultural crops – watermelon and melon – on the consumer market for nitrate content.

According to the National Food Agency, as of today, 50 samples of watermelon and melon have been taken from various sales facilities across the country within the framework of the state control monitoring program and tested in an accredited laboratory.

According to the research results, nitrates do not exceed the norm established by law (watermelon – 60 mg.kg, melon – 90 mg.kg).

Depending on the season, the National Food Agency will regularly conduct research on horticultural crops on the market.
