    Mary's Fast

    Feast after the Transfiguration. Venerable Martyr Domentis of Persia and Two of His Disciples (353); Martyrs Marinus the Horseman and Aster the Swinkle (260); Venerable: Two Nuns (c. 390), Venerable Martyr Potamis the Wonderworker.

    Venerable Father Domentis was of Persian origin. After accepting Christianity, he was tonsured a monk in Mesopotamia. He converted many pagans to the law of Christ. By order of Julian the Apostate, St. Domentis was stoned with his disciples.

    St. Martyr Aster lived during the reign of the pagan emperors Valerian and his son. Despite the persecution, he firmly defended the law of Christ. St. Astaire was present at the martyrdom of St. Martyr Marinus. When the execution was over, Astaire took off his senatorial robe, wrapped the body and head of the saint in it, and buried him. For this act, he was also beheaded in 260.

    In his youth, the venerable Father Orre went to the Tobaida desert and worked in solitude for many years. In his old age, an angel appeared to him and informed him that God had ordered the salvation of man. He died in 390, at the age of 90. The venerable father founded several monasteries, in which 1,000 monks worked.

    The venerable Mother Martyr Potami was pierced with a miraculous sword.
