    Commemoration of our venerable father Ekvtimes, abbot of the Baptist Monastery (1804). St. Emelian the Confessor, Bishop of Quisica (813-820); St. Myron the Wonderworker, Bishop of Crete (c. 350); Martyrs: Eleftherios and Leonides; St. Gregory of Sinai (XIV).

    Archbishop Emelian, Bishop of Quisica, lived during the reign of the iconoclast Emperor Leo the Armenian. The emperor demanded that he, along with other bishops, renounce icons. Emelian refused. The Archbishop was exiled in 815 for his Orthodox faith.

    Archbishop Myron — Bishop of Crete and Miracle Worker In his youth, he was a farmer. Later, the Cretans elected him bishop. God rewarded the bishop, full of goodness, with the gift of miracles. Archbishop Myron died in the Lord around 350 at the age of 100.

    The Holy Martyrs Eleftherios and Leonidas were burned at the stake for Christianity in childhood.

    1874 _ Giorgi Kvinikadze, the last commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Georgia. Died in 1970.

    1938 Revaz Kharebava Academician of the Georgian Academy of Economic Sciences, full professor of Sukhumi University.

    1947 _ Ettore Bugatti, Italian machine builder.

    1980 _ Joe Dassin, French singer.

    1997 — Yuri Nikulin, Russian circus and film actor.
