The family of Saint Susanna was related to the Emperor Diocletian. The saint's family was baptized. When the emperor heard of this, he expelled them from Rome. Soon the martyrs were burned at Ostia, and their ashes were thrown into the sea.

Commemoration of the Venerable Father Passarion. The saint lived in the 5th century. He was the Choir Bishop of Palestine, a companion of the Venerable Father Ephrem the Great.

Commemoration of Saint Mary Synclitikias. The saint was healed by the icon of the Savior made without hands, which appeared during the reign of Emperor Tiberius.

Commemoration of the High Priest Niphon, Patriarch of Constantinople. He was a Greek. He was ordained a monk in Epidaurus. Later he was elected Metropolitan and finally Patriarch of Constantinople. He died on August 24, 1460.
