“On behalf of the United States, I congratulate the people of Ukraine on your 35th anniversary of independence.

Today, 35 years after Ukraine declared its independence from the Soviet Union on August 24, 1991, the United States reaffirms the importance of the long-standing partnership between our countries. The United States is committed to Ukraine’s sovereignty and continues to work to support a negotiated resolution to the war between Ukraine and Russia that will establish a lasting and sustainable peace.

On this Independence Day, as Ukrainians honor their country’s history and celebrate their courage, innovation, and resilience, the United States reaffirms our strong commitment to deepening our economic and security ties and to forging a path to peace and prosperity for both our nations,” said Marco Rubio.
