One person arrested in Tbilisi on charges of fraudulently acquiring a large amount of money, preparing and using a fake official document

One person was arrested in Tbilisi on charges of fraudulently acquiring a large amount of money, preparing and using a fake official document.

As a result of the complex investigative actions carried out by law enforcement officers in the case, it was established that the accused presented himself as a lawyer to foreign citizens and extorted 58,000 GEL in exchange for assistance in preparing documents for obtaining the right to reside and work in Georgia, however, he did not fulfill his promise and fraudulently appropriated the said amount.

After the victims made a claim, the accused prepared a fake bank transfer document and used this document to try to convince the victims that he had returned the money due to them.

Law enforcement officers arrested the accused based on a judge's ruling.

The investigation is underway under Articles 180 and 362 of the Criminal Code, which provides for imprisonment for a term of up to 9 years.
