Deposition of the Precious Belt of the All-Holy Lady Theotokos (395–408); Hieromartyr Cyprian, Bishop of Carthage (258); Gennadius, Patriarch of Constantinople (471).

The deposition of the Precious Belt of the All-Holy Theotokos in the Blachernae Church in Constantinople took place during the reign of Emperor Arcadius. Prior to this, the holy belt—which the Theotokos herself had entrusted to the Apostle Thomas—had been kept by faithful Christians in Jerusalem following her Dormition. During the reign of Emperor Leo the Wise, the belt healed his wife, Zoe. Portions of the holy belt of the Theotokos are preserved at the Vatopedi Monastery on Mount Athos, at the monastery in Trier, and in Georgia.

Hieromartyr Cyprian, Bishop of Carthage, was born around the year 200 in the city of Carthage, where he spent his entire life. Hierarch Cyprian of Carthage left a great legacy to the Church: his writings and eighty books. Saint Gennadius, Patriarch of Constantinople, was elected to the throne of the Church of Constantinople in 458, during the reign of the pious Emperor Leo the Great. His life is recounted in the book The Spiritual Meadow. During the patriarchate of Saint Gennadius, the Church of John the Baptist was built in Constantinople. The hierarch Gennadius led the Church of Constantinople for 13 years; he passed away in 471.
